Things I wish I knew before my daughter became a Teenager

Parenting is a hard job. Everyone cracks once in a while but the beauty of it all is that its so easy to get back up and face the curve ball all over again. After all, they are your kids, and they are not just crude responsibility but also a very integral part of your heart. Our kids are our shining star, our day spinners, our mood swingers and our bring-me-up 'ers until they hit the teen age...... Being a high school teacher I had often heard dreadful tales from parents of the hard times they have had to endure due to their teenagers, but I often referred to it as exaggerations. Maybe they were just bad parents, maybe they did not have the right kind of knowledge, exposure or experience, maybe they were not handling it right. I had all kinds of excuses to deter the inevitable. I handled my teenage students with the utmost care and finesse. I was showered with praises as I maneuvered many cases into understanding and emotional calmness. I began to feel invincible. surely ...

Is this right ? the confusion of values

On Sunday 11th March ,2018 Nawaz Sharif faced the worse humiliation of his life. But well this might not be the first time he thought that...for their have been many past instances that must have brought him to the same emotional conclusion. But this was way out of line, a shoe thrown at your face....in the middle of your speech! this is bad! The guy was out there again trying to muster some support for himself right before the elections, as if he could pull the whole circus again and get another opportunity to nibble away at the country. But this is not the topic of my blog....nope. I will not do what 193 million people are doing right now. I will not point fingers, I will not make jokes about it, I will not gossip about it - I shall only try to shine the light towards the truth. WHERE DID I COME FROM ? Every person from the day they are born travel on a journey to one day ask the ever impinging question of where they actually came from.  Every human being on earth, like it or not, some time or the other does think about this million dollar question.  Some are more persistent than others and venture on quests in order to decipher the secrets of the universe, others shove the thought away, choosing to live in the bliss of ignorance for the rest of their lives. But this very same question - where did I come from? - when popped in my mind, it rang bells. Bells too loud to be ignored and so I had to do something about it. Being the adventurous sort I too ventured on a juorney to find the truth. But Alhamdullilah, the journey was not too long and the first stop was the destination.
